Announcing the ‘AC Photo Contest: History’ winners!
In our latest photo contest we put out the call for your historical photos — not necessarily old pictures themselves, but of old subjects — and you all responded with some great offerings. We narrowed things down to the four winners to receive prizes, and you can see each one below.
Winner of a Google Cardboard unit, isabel95!
Maybe it’s the black and white that really sets it off, but seeing all of the memorabilia up in an old store definitely ties this one together as historic. The sharp lines and lack of color really set off this picture. Taken with a Galaxy Note 4 and converted to monochrome with Adobe Photoshop. Nice shot!
Winner of a Google Cardboard unit, gonpo77!
It’s tough to beat Grand Central Station when it comes to history, and we love the juxtaposition of the more modern elements around it. It’s lit up wonderfully, and that just adds to the picture. Taken with an LG G2 — great one!
Winner of a Google Cardboard unit, mcm180!
The statues in this memorial are certainly historical, and the framing is great to bring them to the forefront and let the rest fade away. The light in the background perfectly comes around the stones in the back as well. Taken with a Galaxy S5 — very nicely done.
Winner of a Google Cardboard unit, das0527!
One of the most recognizable sites in the U.S., and captured perfectly here. The choice of a vertical aspect ratio was definitely warranted, and the framing is fantastic with the strong light coming in from one side to create some shadows. Taken with a Galaxy S5 — perfect!
If you’ve won this contest, keep an eye on your email inbox for information on how we’ll get the prize out to you. It may take some time to get to everyone, so please be patient while you wait to be contacted.
Thanks again to everyone else who entered, and keep your eyes peeled for the next photo contest. We want the chance to give away more great prizes to everyone, so keep taking pictures and entering them!
